Summer Camp

Before Camp:

• Complete all necessary Forms including health history on Ultra Camp

• Parents: Letter to my child’s leader 

• Campers: Letter to my leader

• Complete payment (due 2 weeks before session begins)

• Pack according to the packing list

• Preparing Your Camper: Talk with your camper about what to expect. Camp includes plenty of fun and outdoor activities, but it also means spending time away from home, meeting new people, sharing space with others, and trying unfamiliar things. Keeping conversations about camp positive and encouraging can help reduce anxiety before arrival.

During Camp:

• Send Your Camper Mail.  Messages are printed and delivered at camp. Keep messages positive and focused on what your camper is experiencing. Avoid emphasizing how much they are missed or activities they are missing at home.

• Homesickness is normal, especially for campers who are spending significant time away from home for the first time. Our staff are trained to support campers with patience and compassion while helping them become comfortable with their group and camp routine.

• If you have concerns, please call camp. Our goal is for your camper to have an uninterrupted camp experience. 

• Parents or guardians will be contacted if an illness or injury prevents a camper from participating in normal activities for an extended period or requires outside medical attention.

• Campers may only leave with an authorized person. Please bring a driver’s license or other photo ID.

Our Rover program is designed for teens ages 16 - 17 who want to volunteer and grow as leaders while helping camp run smoothly behind the scenes.

Help out as volunteers for any of the summer sessions, assisting with all programs and occasionally taking on the role of cabin leader. Rovers gain a lot of experience and most move on to paid positions in future years. As a Rover:

• You will assist in leading activities

• You may step in to supervise a cabin in the event that the leader is dealing with other issues.

• You will help plan and run all-camp evening programs with other Rovers.

• You may help out in the kitchen - serving up the meal and washing dishes.

• You will be respected and treated as a staff member as long as you are acting as a mature leader and role model.  If your behavior is immature, disruptive, or ineffective, you will be sent home.

• You will get to know a lot about how Sound View operates and plenty of logged volunteer hours for any high school requirements.

• If you are a Rover AND a certified lifeguard, you will be paid for your summer weeks.
