Mission

To create a place of belonging, where Northwest communities can learn, enjoy, and connect with the land and with each other.

History

Sound View has recently gone through exciting changes. After 40 years of operating Sound View, the Olympia Presbytery transferred the property and programming to Salish Sea View in January of 2026. We are now an independent, secular 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This means our staff no longer provide religious programming, but welcome guests to engage in their own religious activities.

Prior to the Olympia Presbytery, the property was owned by Camp Fire Girls, and operated as Camp Wakoma. 

Protected Land

Through a permanent conservation easement purchased by the Nisqually Land Trust, more than 90 acres of Sound View’s forests, fields, shoreline, and associated tidelands are preserved for generations to come. This easement was established to protect and restore valuable coastal shoreline habitat while allowing Sound View to continue serving as a place for outdoor education, camp, recreation, and connection with the natural world.
