Join us at Sound View Camp on Saturday, November 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a community volunteer workday! Help prepare camp for winter through trail cleanup, organizing, light maintenance, and other important projects. What will volunteers be doing?
Projects will depend on camp needs, weather, and volunteer abilities. They may include:
Trail and grounds cleanup
Cleaning and organizing program areas
Light maintenance
Preparing buildings and outdoor spaces for winter
Do I need special skills?
No. We will have projects appropriate for different ages, interests, and ability levels. If you have maintenance, landscaping, carpentry, cleaning, or organizational skills, please let us know when registering.
Can families and groups participate?
Yes! Families, friends, work teams, churches, and community groups are welcome. Children must remain under the supervision of a parent or responsible adult.
What should I bring?
Please bring:
Weather-appropriate clothing and rain gear
Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or work boots
Work gloves
A reusable water bottle
Any personal medications or other necessities
If you have useful hand tools, you may bring them, but please label them with your name. Camp will also provide basic supplies and equipment.
Will the event happen if it rains?
Yes. November weather can be wet, so please come prepared for rain and cool temperatures. Some projects may be moved indoors or adjusted because of weather.
Are meals provided?
A simple dinner will be provided for all registered volunteers from 5:00–6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Overnight volunteers will also receive a free continental breakfast on Sunday morning.
Please tell us about dietary restrictions when registering. Volunteers should bring their own lunch, snacks, and water for Saturday unless otherwise announced.
Can I stay overnight?
Yes. Volunteers may reserve available camp lodging for the night of Saturday, November 7, at half the regular price. Lodging is limited and must be reserved in advance.
What is included with an overnight stay?
Your discounted stay includes available camp lodging and a free continental breakfast on Sunday morning. Bedding, bathroom arrangements, check-in instructions, and the exact lodging rate will be confirmed when you make your reservation.
Can I volunteer for only part of the day?
Yes. While we appreciate volunteers who can participate for the full day, partial-day help is welcome. Please tell us what hours you expect to attend.
Is the workday accessible?
Some projects take place on uneven trails or outdoor terrain, while others can be completed indoors. Let us know about any mobility or accessibility needs so we can help identify an appropriate project.
What about pets?
Please contact Sound View before bringing a pet. Service animals are welcome in accordance with applicable requirements.
