Protected Areas at Sound View
Much of the property is environmentally sensitive. The staff and Board strive to protect God’s creation by ensuring that ecosystems function as they are supposed to.
The saltwater marsh is a good example. For much of the day, the tide is out and it reveals much aquatic activity in the mud, sand, and grasses. When the tide is high, water covers the inner lagoon to bring moisture, nutrients and sea birds to provide balance. In addition, a tiny freshwater spring as well as runoff from the upper part of camp keeps this estuary thriving and crucial to the health of Puget Sound.
