View from the Sound

Dear campers and friends of Sound View Camp,

This has been a season of growth, planning, and renewed energy at camp. We welcomed campers, students, retreat guests, families, and community partners all season to our 100 acres along the Salish Sea and we are excited about what lies ahead.

A New Chapter

Earlier this year, ownership of the camp officially transferred to Salish Sea View, the independent nonprofit organization that operates Sound View Camp.

Our board and staff recently gathered for a full day mission and vision planning retreat. Together, we discussed how Sound View can continue offering meaningful outdoor experiences while strengthening environmental education, improving our facilities, expanding community access, and caring for this remarkable property for future generations.

Growing Outdoor Education

This year, over 1,000 students attended Sound View for hands on environmental education experiences.

Students explored forests, beaches, marine life, farm and garden systems, environmental stewardship, teamwork, archery, and other outdoor activities. We are continuing to strengthen our Outdoor Environmental Education program and developing new ways to build resilience, responsibility, courage, empathy, teamwork, and care for the environment into the camp experience.

Teachers and school leaders: Now is the time to schedule your 2027 trip.

Programs can be shaped around your students’ ages, learning goals, group size, and length of stay. To begin planning, contact oee@soundviewcamp.com.

Summer Camp

This summer, Sound View operated two weeks of overnight camp for young people ages 9 - 15.

Campers spent their days canoeing, practicing archery, creating crafts, playing games, taking on team-building challenges, and exploring the forest and shoreline. Shared meals, songs, evening programs, new friendships, and beautiful views helped create the kind of camp memories that can last a lifetime.

We are grateful to every camper, family, staff member, and volunteer who helped make Summer Camp possible. 2027 information will be coming soon!

Limited Off-Season Retreat Dates Available

Although our fall and winter calendar is filling, we still have a limited number of retreat dates available for groups of 15 or more.

Sound View can accommodate nonprofit teams, churches, schools, family gatherings, community organizations, and other groups looking for a peaceful place to meet and reconnect. Depending on your group’s needs, a stay can include lodging, meals, meeting spaces, trails, shoreline access, and camp activities.

If your group is considering an off-season retreat, please email operations@soundviewcamp.com so we can explore available dates.

Volunteer Work Party

Saturday, November 7, 2026

Help us prepare Sound View for the winter and make progress on several important camp projects! This event will last from 9 am - 5 pm, and a simple dinner will be provided for all volunteers from 5- 6 pm.

Volunteer projects may include:

• Trail and grounds cleanup

• Cleaning and organizing program areas

• Light maintenance and winter preparation

Volunteers who would like to stay overnight on November 7, may reserve available camp lodging at half price. A free continental breakfast on Sunday morning is included.

Caring for the Camp

Behind the scenes, we have been prioritizing improvements throughout the property. Current and upcoming work includes dining hall and kitchen improvements, cabin and lodge refreshes, road maintenance, updated signage, and equipment that will help our small team better care for the grounds.

We are also looking ahead to future shoreline, pier, farm, and outdoor learning improvements. Each project is part of a larger goal: making Sound View safer, more welcoming, and better equipped to serve campers and guests.
